Abstract

On December 18, 1737, in his native Cremona, at the age of 93, Antonio Stradivari, a master who left behind an immortal legacy, died. About 650 musical instruments delight the ears of sophisticated fans of classical sound even today. For almost three centuries, manufacturers of musical instruments have been haunted by the question: why does the sound of Stradivarius violins look like a sonorous and gentle female voice?
