Abstract

Background: NewCoronavirus Infection (COVID-19) is a novel zooanthroponous respiratory infection caused by the Sars-Cov-2 coronavirus. The virus was first identified during an epidemic outbreak in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, which has been reported since December 11, 2019. Since then, scientists have been studying the characteristics of the virus to determine the severity of the disease. For a complete and reliable assessment of the severity of the disease in this pathology, the cytokine status was studied.
Methods: To assess the study of the cytokine profile in patients with COVID-19, depending on the severity of the disease, an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used.
Results: It was found that, depending on the severity of the disease, patients with COVID-19 have a pronounced cytokine imbalance. The high level of the studied cytokines is a reflection of the activity and severity of the pathological process. The results obtained indicate the activation of the expression of proinflammatory cytokines, for example, IL-1β, IL-2, IL-6, TNF-α.
Conclusions: The results obtained can be used as a prognostic criterion for the severity of the course and outcome of the disease.
